Glen Dimplex Artists Award - Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA)
In the early 2000s, celebrated Irish painter Tony O’Malley, who spent formative years in St Ives before returning to Kilkenny, was honored with the IMMA Award Dublin, formally known as the Glen Dimplex Artists Award. This prestigious accolade, presented by the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in collaboration with the Irish-based company Glen Dimplex, was established to recognize significant achievements in the visual arts and to support and celebrate contemporary artists in Ireland. The award presented to O’Malley was designed and crafted by renowned silversmith Kevin O’Dwyer, combining elegance and artistic craftsmanship. The piece reflected both O’Malley’s innovative approach to painting and O’Dwyer’s mastery of materials, serving as a symbol of recognition and a bridge between visual art and fine silversmithing, celebrating Ireland’s rich artistic heritage and the enduring impact of O’Malley’s work nationally and internationally.
